Dermody Cleaners Launches 31st Annual Coats For Kids Campaign

TAUNTON, MA — Dermody Cleaners, a highly regarded local dry cleaning and laundry business, is excited to announce the commencement of their 31st annual Coats For Kids campaign, slated to kick off in January 2024. The initiative involves collecting and cleaning donated coats at no cost and distributing them to those in need through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society’s Center on Washington Street in Taunton. Since its inception, the Coats for Kids drive has successfully cleaned and donated over 50,000 coats.

Residents in the area are urged to contribute gently worn winter coats for children to any of the Dermody Cleaners locations: 34 Cohannet St., 648 County Street, 330 Bedford Street in Lakeville, and the Press Club on Route 6 in Somerset. Donating a coat that your child has outgrown can make a significant impact for someone facing difficult circumstances.

Terry Dermody, representing Dermody Cleaners, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s event, stating, “I am thrilled to kick off our annual Coat Drive for local children. For over three decades, our community has united to ensure that every child stays warm during the winter months. The Coats For Kids Drive is not just about providing warmth; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of generosity that defines our community. With the support of our loyal customers and community partners, we’re making a real impact. Let’s continue this tradition of warmth, compassion, and togetherness as we embark on another year of giving back to those who need it most.”

Mr. Dermody extends his gratitude to Rockland Bank for joining the efforts this year, as well as the ongoing support from the Cranberry County Chamber of Commerce, Crossed Sabers Ski & Sport of Raynham, Berkley Middle School, the Segregansett Country Club, and Taunton Extended Day Care. A special thank you is also extended to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society for their continued community work and partnership on this cause.

The Saint Vincent de Paul Center, located at 141 Washington Street in Taunton, serves as the distribution hub for the campaign. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to noon and Wednesday evenings between 5:30 pm to 7 pm for the food pantry

The Coats for Kids campaign is Dermody Cleaners’ primary community service initiative, complemented by other projects such as the Holiday Food Drive and continuous support of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro South.
