Dermody Cleaners Launches 32nd Annual Coats for Kids Drive

Dermody Cleaners is excited to announce the launch of its 32nd Annual Coats for Kids Drive. As part of this longstanding tradition, the local dry cleaning and laundry business will clean and donate coats to those in need through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society’s Center on Washington Street in Taunton. Since the drive’s inception, over 50,000 coats have been collected, cleaned, and distributed to children in the community.

Throughout the month of January, area residents are invited to donate gently worn children’s winter coats that are no longer needed. Coats can be dropped off at any Dermody Cleaners location: 34 Cohannet Street (downtown, across from the Taunton Gazette), 648 County Street (Hart’s Four Corners), 330 Bedford Street in Lakeville (Sava’s Plaza), and the Press Club on Route 6 in Somerset.

Terry Dermody, speaking on behalf of Dermody Cleaners, shared his thoughts on this year’s drive: “I’m inspired by a quote from Abraham Lincoln: ‘The best way to predict your future is to create it.’ By providing coats to those in need, we’re helping them envision a brighter future. Our community’s children represent the future, and warmth is a basic human right.” Mr. Dermody also expressed his deep gratitude to Martignetti Companies of Taunton, who, in collaboration with 110 Grill, helped kick off this year’s drive by donating over 300 coats. He further thanked Crossed Sabers Ski & Sport of Raynham, Berkley Middle School, Segregansett Country Club, and Taunton Extended Day Care for their continued support.

The Saint Vincent de Paul Center, located at 141 Washington Street in Taunton, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the food pantry. In case of an emergency, the Vincentians are available to respond immediately at 1-508-823-6676.

The Coats for Kids campaign is Dermody Cleaners’ flagship community service initiative. Other ongoing projects include the company’s Holiday Food Drive and its continued support of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro South.
